Named Education Month Chairmen

David Safran was named chair-
man of Annual Education Month
of the United Hebrew Schools,
and Mandell Berman was ap-
pointed his associate chairman.
Abe Kasle, president of the
schools, announcing the appoint-
ment, said he was happy to

choose for these posts two young
men who are showing a deep
interest in the advancement of
the community's educational sys-
tem.
Kasle stated that a number
of projects are planned to bring
the schools' objectives before the
public. He said that the need for
enlargement of the schools' fa-
cilities and of bringing more
teachers to our community are
being tackled here with great
seriousness and that the schools'
plans for the future will be put-
lined during Education Month.

Jewish Victims Disappointed
at Austrian 'Common Fund'

VIENNA, (JTA) — Austrian
Vice Chancellor J. Pitterman an-
nounced the establishment of a
common fund for the payment of
restitution to victims of Nazism
and Austrians- who had suffered
war damage. Payments will be
made on the basis of individual
need.
Jewish circles here expressed
deep disappointment since this
action by the government links
all war victims and fails to dis-
tinguish victims of the Nazi re-
gime.
