TEL AVIV — A first-night
audience of 3,000 men and
women in evening dress turned
out Wednesday for the first con-
cert to be played in Tel Aviv's
brand new Frederick R. Mann
Auditorium by the Israel Phil-
harmonic Orchestra, under the
baton of Leonard Bernstein,
leading American composer-con-
ductor.
The new home of Israel's lead-
ing symphony orchestra was

GENEVA — Leaders of the
Polish Communist government

the work of ORT "and are pre-
pared to help us" in resuming
ORT services to Polish Jews,
officials of an ORT (Organiza-
tion for Rehabilitation through
Training) delegation to Poland
reported Wednesday on its re-
turn here.'
The 15-day mission was led,by
J. J. Chorin, of the ORT execu-
tive, and Dr. Vladimir Halperin,
ORT Union.. director, and visited
most of the JewiSh communities
in Poland, making numerous
contacts with Polish government
officials.
Dr: Halperin said that ORT
schools in Poland would cater
mainly to the educational heeds
of the Jewish adult - population
with short courses of up to 10
months in various semi-skilled
and skilled trades.

training aid for Jewish re-
patriates will be given "ur-
gently" by Jewish groups abroad.

ing repatriated from the Soviet
Union and are in need of ad-
justing themselves to new con-
ditions in Poland.
A report from Warsaw re-
ceived here Wednesday empha-
sizes that, although Jewish com-
munities in Poland are doing
their best to arrange work in
cooperative shops for the Jewish
returnees, many of them must
be trained for this work since
they cannot make use of their
working experiences in Russia.
