Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Tap-
per, of 19415 Greenfield, an-
nounce the engagement of their
daughter, Geraldine, to Murray
Spilman, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Emil Spilman, of 18248 Strat-

Miss Tapper is a senior at
Wayne State University. Her
fiance is a former WSU student.
The couple is planning a June
wedding.

nity Council, board of gover-
nors of the Jewish Welfare
Federation and board of the
Family and Child Welfare Fed-
eration of the United Com-
munity Services.

ideals of democracy, a concern
for better understanding among
all peoples of our city."
Recipients in past years have

gious, business and professional
leaders, among them the late
Dr. B. Benedict Glazer, Boris
M. Joffe, Judge Ira Jayne, Wal-
ter Reuther, Rabbi Morris Ad-
ler, Dr. Shmarya Kleinman, Dr.
David D. Henry, Hoke Levin,
Samuel J. Lieberman and Sey-

`Star-Studded Revue
to Climax BB Women's
Fund-Raising Drive
Plans are currently being
formulated for the production
of a "Star-Studded Revue," to
be presented by the Greater
Detroit Bnai Brith Women's
Council to achieve its fund-
raising goal of $100,000.
Mrs. Philip Fealk, Council
president, and Mrs. Sidney
Eidelman, fund-raising chair-
man, have stated that every in-
dication has been given that
the goal will be achieved by
the time of the revue, planned
for Nov. 12, at the Fox Theater.

One of the many activities
sponsored by the Council lo-
cally is the recreational ther-
apy program provided by a
committee of 40 women to pa-
tients at Pontitac State Hos-
pital, and at three family
care homes in Pontiac and
Rochester.
Under the supervision of Mrs.
James Kraft, chairman, and
Mrs. Jack Friedman, co-chair-
man, the homes are serviced six
times a month. The Bnai Brith
women arrange games, picnics,
birthday parties - and provide
gifts, prizes and refreshments
to the mentally ill patients.
In appreciation of the services
to the hospital, its directors
have -given many awards to
Council and to individual vol-
unteers from the participating
chapters. The program, func-
tioning now for four years, has
been expanded each year.
Bnai Brith is the only service
'organization caring for _patients
in these family care homes.
