Gilden at Beth Aaron Syna-
gogue on Aug. 31, Joyce Baskin,
daughter of. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob
Baskin, became the bride of
Arnold Kushmar, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Kushmar.
The bride wore a white silk
taffeta gown, designed with an
Alencon lace bodice, which was
accented with tiny seed pearls.
The princess skirt swept into
a chapel train. Her four-tiered
pure silk illusion veil was
caught to a crown of matching
lace and pearls. She carried a
prayer book topped with two
white orchids.
Sheila Goldstein was maid of
honor and bridesmaids were
Sandra Barry, Barbara Desmon
and Joyce Joseph. Howard Boe-
- sky served as -best man, while
ushers were Morris Kushmar,
Howard La,Kritz, Fred Baskin
and Neil Kushmar.
After a honeymoon in Florida
and Nassau the newlyweds will
reside on Oakman Blvd.

Mr. Tommy Salmons, of 24388 Scotia, Oak Park, was honored
recently at a surprise party given by his wife, Ilene, which cele-
brated his graduation as an electronic engineer. The occasion
also served to fete the couple's fifth wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Helen Jackman, associated with the Elkin Travel Bu-
reau, on Livernois St., is now making a complete and comprehen-
sive tour of the West Indies and South America. Upon her
return to New York, Mrs. Jackman will Spend considerable time
visiting the various cruise ships in port. She will resume her
duties at Elkin about the end of September.
Mr. and Mrs. M. Plafkin, of 18419 Stoepel, have been enter-
taining Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Dourchin, who are visiting here and
in Canada from Tel Aviv, Israel. A reunion party was held here
after 35 years, at which mutual cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Hyman
Lipsitz, of 23650 Radclift, Oak Park, and Mr. and Mrs. B. Nosan-
chuk, of Windsor, were present. The Plafkins later met with the
Dourchins at Toronto and Montreal with mutual cousins there.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris L. Schaver and son, Isaac, have returned
from a European tour and a six weeks' stay in Israel.
Mr. and Mrs. Abe Max, of Los Angeles, former Detroiters, are
visiting here this week. They are the house guests of Mr. Max's
mother and sister, Mrs. Rose Max and Mrs. Gussie Wachs.
• Mr. and Mrs. William Hordes are guests this week in New
York City where they are attending the 50th wedding anniver-
sary celebration of their sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Sam Nissenoff.
Mr. William Elkin, of the Elkin Travel Bureau, and Mrs.
Elkin will leave Wednesday aboard HMS Queen Elizabeth for
an extended tour of Europe, where they will visit chiefly in
England, France and Italy. Mr. Elkin will check transportation
facilities and accommodations in order to plan tours for Detroit-
ers who will travel there during the coming season
Miss Michelle Robbins and Mr. Sidney Markel will tender a
cocktail party for 75 guests on Sept. i4, at the Robbins' home in
Bloomfield Hills. The party is in honor of Miss Jaye Robbins
and her fiance, Mr. Robert Ranick.
Mrs. Hattie Levine and daughters Gertrude and Mildred
gave a surprise party last Sunday evening honoring Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Weiss, of Santa Rosa Ave., who are leaving for California
to make their permanent home.
