Young Judea Schedules
Weekend at Tamarack

Plans for a weekend program
at Camp Tamarack for Senior
Young Judea, Sept. 13 to 15,
were announced this week by
Albert Elazar, chairman of the
Detroit Zionist Youth Commis-
sion.
Yankela Sattati, recently ar-
rived here from Kibbutz Sol-
lelim Israel, founded by Sabras
and Young Judeans, will be
among the resource people at
the sessions, which have as
their theme, "The. Role of the
American Jew and His Respon-
sibility to the Future."
Sattati, a veteran of the Is-
rael War of Independence and
the Sinai Campaign, will ad-
dress the conclave on life in
Israel and teach Israeli singing
and dancing.
Others who will give direc-
tion to the weekend outing are
Avram Lauffer, Moishe Dwor-
kin, Sara Johnson and Morton
Plotnick. All interested youth
between 14 and 17 are invited.

Graduation exercises for the
first class of Sinai Hospital's
Shapero School of Nursing will
be held at 8 p.m., Thursday in
the Brown Memorial Chapel of
Temple Beth El.
, Forty women and one man
will be. awarded diplomas as
qualified practical- nurses.
, Twenty-five of the graduates
have indicated their wish to
work at Sinai Hospital, thus
adding to the nursing resources
of the parent institution.
Both Sinai Hospital and the
Shapero School of Nursing are
member agencies of the Jewish
Welfare Federation.
The- commencement address
will be given by Mildred L.
Tuttle, R. N., director of the
nursing division of the W. K.
Kellogg Foundation.
George M. Stutz, president of
the Shapero School, and Mrs.
Ruth B. Edelson, principal, will
award the diplomas. The follow-
: ing will also be introduced at
the exercises: Judge Theodore
Levin, president, Jewish Wel-
fare Federation; Dr. Mary Mul-
lane, nursing consultant to the
Shapero School; Max Osnos,
president, Sinai Hospital; Dr.
Julien Priver, Sinai director,
and Nate S. Shapero, president,
Cunningham Drug Co. Founda-
tion, and Nate S. & Ruth B.
Shapero Foundation, whose
grants made possible the erec-
tion of the school.
The Shapero School of Nurs-
ing was dedicated last Septem-
ber as an experimental-demon-
stration program in practical
nursing, one of only three of its
kind in the U. S.

JWV Activities

OAK PARK POST met re-
cently to elect Benjamin Edel-
stein its first commander. The
group will meet at 8:30 p.m.,
Sept. 10 and 24, in the Clinton
School, Oak Park.
