The oldest member of the
Netzorg family to attend the
gathering was Charles Sol Net-
zorg, the 75-year-old family
patriarch from Chicago, while
the youngest was 20-year-old
Charles Krohn, of Saginaw. The
grandchildren and great grand-
children were limited in at-
tendance because of certain
rules on age at Haven Hill.
The family geneology, when
completed, will contain a com-
plete record of the Philippine
offshoot of the Netzorg family.
The family was brought up to
date on this branch by Jacques
Morton Netzorg, who recently
returned to Detroit and is
working for U.S. Rubber Co.
Jacques is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Morton Netzorg—friends
of Rabbi Morris Adler — who
moved to the Philippines in
191.1. They were there during
World War II, and were in-
terned by the Japanese during
the war.
A son, David, who held a
PhD in mathematics at the age
of 22, died as a soldier in the
U.S. Army during the war:
After the peace treaty was
signed, Morton Netzorg was ap-
pointed Counsel for all state-
less people in the Philippines.
Many of them were Jewish re-
fugees who had fled from Nazi
occupation. He also had done
similar work for the Joint Dis-
tribution Committee prior to
the war.
As for the rest of the Netzorg
family, they continue to grow.
As a matter of record, they
have even outgrown their name,
naving added representatives
from three more states since the
original "Netzorg Ten - State
Club" name was adopted.
Next year, arrangements have
already been made for another
reunion, tentatively scheduled
at Haven Hill. It is hoped that
the family records will be
swelled even more at the pext
get-together.

15 —THE D ETROIT JEWISH NEWS -- Friday, August 16, 1957

One of Michigan's oldest
families had a gathering of the
clan last weekend at Haven
Hill Lodge in the Highland
Recreation Area, north of Pon-
tiac.
Getting together under the
name of the "Netzorg Ten-State
Club," indicating how the fam-
ily has spread out to many
parts of the country, the Net-
zorg family_ met for two days
of reunion.
The Netzorgs -reviewed their
family history, dating back to
Michael Netzorg, whose six sons
and a daughter left Pern, Lith-
uania, six generations ago to
make their homes in this
country. Most of them came to
Michigan.
Looking over old newspaper
clippings and pictures, the Net-
zorgs decided to collect all of
their available records, compile
a geneology and present the lot
to the American Jewish Ar-
chives at Cincinnati's- Hebrew
Union College.
It has been a most interest-
ing family, producing a Circuit
Judge—Harry Keidan, an off-
shoot from one branch of the
family, a concert pianist—Ben-
detson Netzorg,- who also was
active in the Zionist Organiza
tion of Detroit and in the early
years of the Keren Hayesod;
and Nathan Lurie, one of sev-
eral top-flight executives the
family has produced.
