`Vacationing' Students
in Detroit 'to Sell'
Traditional Judaism

I

Two young men, who wear
their beards as a badge of honor,
are currently in Detroit as rep-
resentatives of one of this j
country's best known and wide-
ly respected spiritual leaders. I
They are Rabbis Gershon
Mendel Garelik. an Israeli, and
Rabbi Yitulaok Block, a native
American. who are students at
the Lubavitcher Yeshiva, 770
Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn,
N. Y.
The Yeshiva itself is no more
unique than the mission of its
young representatives here.
The Brooklyn institution, head-
quarters of Rabbi Menachim
M. Schneerson, head of the
world-wide Lubavitcher move-
ment, each summer sends its
students on three-week "vaca-
tions."
The vacations consist of
traveling to at least one city
to speak to Jews and to awaken
in them their interest and love
for Judaism. Rabbi Block said.
i While here, the young men
(they are not yet really rabbis)
meet with businessmen, talk
