Lazar Segall, Jewish

Painter, Dies in Brazil
SAO PAULO, Brazil. (JTA)—

Funeral services were held here
Aug. 4 for Lazar Segall, Lithu-
anian-born artist who attained

eminence in the expressionist
movement. He was 66. He first
came to Brazil in 1913 after
studying in Dresden and Berlin.
Returning after the first World
war. he became a Brazilian citi-
zen. He greatly influenced Bra-
zilian modern art.
