The troupe will perform "Medea" and "Dyb- buk," making its second ap- pearance at the festival. Before leaving, Habimah an- nounced two contests for plays on Israeli themes. The first, for $2,000, is for a • play devoted to Israel's tenth anniversary. This competition is open to Jews and non-Jews all over the world. Score Appointments of Ex-Gestapo Officials COLOGNE (JTA) -- A Co- logne policeman and official of a police union has protested the appointment of former Gestapo officials to responsible police jobs in the German states and cities. George Buerke, chairman of the local police division of the Public Services Union, termed "intolerable" the appointment of ex-Gestapo men to executive positions in the police hier- archy. He said the trade unions would never agree that such people were "acceptable" for top jobs. Buerke was followed by Samuel Kessler, one of the few surviving Cologne Jews and now a Social Democratic muni- cipal councilman, who appealed for support of all citizens and the police in efforts to prevent neo-Nazi activities. JERUSALEM (JTA) — The Ministry of Education an- nounced the granting of nine fellowships to foreign scholars to study at the Hebrew Uni- versity and the Israel Institute of Technology.
