TEL AVIV (JTA)—At the
energetic insistence of Premier
David Ben-Gurion, the Mapai
central committee moved in an
extraordinary session to end
the 10-week old strike of 1,700
workers in Haifa's ATA Works,
the biggest textile plant in
Israel.
Mapai's central committee
decided to urge the Histadrut
executive to take upon itself
the handling of the strike and
maintain direct contact with
the strikers, by-passing the
Haifa Labor Council.
The decision was adopted

SMAN IMAM IIO ILLHa HHI—L

A number of our advertisers have called our attention to the tactics of
local neighborhood advertising bulletins which are soliciting ads purported-
ly for a Jewish New Year Greeting Edition.
These advertising periodicals — some of them shopping guides without
any news value—are sending out solicitations by attaching copies of adver-
tisements clipped from Jewish News holiday issues, thereby giving the false
impression that they are Jewish newspapers and that these advertisements
appeared in their columns previously.
The Jewish News calls the attention of the community to the fact that
it is the ONLY Jewish newspaper published in Michigan.
The Jewish News has no connection whatsoever with the soliciting
newspapers that are misrepresenting local merchants by approaching them
with copies of our ads. It stands to reason that we do not condone such mis-
leading solicitations.
Advertisers are warned not to be misled by the similarity of type, for-
mat and context in those ads which were extracted from The Jewish News
and are being used by unauthorized newspapers.

UNITED NATIONS, N.Y.,
(JTA)—Disturbed over angry
Arab reactions here to Prime
Minister H. S. Suhrawardy's
remarks regarding the Arab-
Israel issue, the Pakistani dele-
gation put out a press release
insisting that Suhrawardy's
statement does not imply any
change in Karachi's basic policy
towards the Palestine problem.
In Karachi, a statement was
issued by the Foreign Ministry
declaring that Pakistan has not
recognized Israel and "shall
never do so." The statement
said that the remarks made by
the Pakistani Prime Minister,
who is now visiting the United
States, in which he offered to
mediate the Arab-Israel dis-
pute, were "misunderstood."
"The Prime, Minister has
authorized the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and Common-
wealth Relations to state that
interpretations which have been
placed on his statement do not
reflect his true intention," the
statement said.
"What the Prime Minister
had desired to stress was the
necessity of solving the Arab-
Israeli dispute -over Palestine
in a peaceful manner."
