WCTS to Set Up
Day School for
Retarded Youth

I

A score of Detroit Jewish
organizations that are inter-
ested in assisting all available
programs in behalf of mentally
retarded children were heart-
ened this week by the an-
nouncement that the. Board of
Supervisors' Wayne County
Training School's Committee
had approved plans for a day
school at the Training School.
Wayne County, as a result
of this decision, will halle the
first of the nation's publicly
supported day schools for men-
tally retarded children.
This new day school will be
located on the Wayne County
Training School grounds and
will have a specially trained
staff . of teachers and super-
visors.
It is planned to have 45 chil-
dren, ages 5 to 8, in the first
class, which will begin in
November.
The idea was promulgated
by the medical superintendent
of the Wayne County Training
School, Dr. Pasquale Buoni-
conto, and the idea is expected
to be watched with great in-
terest throughout the country.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence A.
Fleischman of Burlington Drive,
whose collection of United
States art is on the eighth leg
of a 20-month, - government
sponsored Latin American tour,
are being entertained in Buenos
Aires, Argentina, this week by
U. S. Arnbassadar Willard L.
Baulac and Argentine officials.
Their collection of 57 paint-
ings and six sculptures, cover-
ing 250 years of American art,
is on view at the Harrod Gal-
lery in Buenos Aires until Aug.
10. It opened July 22, with a
reception.
Fleischman has visited each
of the eight cities on the tour
90 far as lecturer an "art
ambassador" for the U. S. gov-
ernment — but this is the first
time his wife Barbara has ac-
companied him since the tour
began a year ago in August in
Mexico City.
En route to Buenos Aires,
the Fleischmans stopped in
Guayaquil, Ecuador, and at
Lima, Peru, where he made
many friends last fall and
winter. while the show was in
those cities. After Buenos Aires,
they will go an to Sao Paulo
and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In each city on the United
States Information Agency
tour, Fleischman presents a set
of slides of great U. S. art
works — not necessarily from
his collection — and copies of
the book "Painting in America"
by Edgar P. Richardson, De-
troit Institute of Arts director,
to museums and libraries. These
are U. S. Government gifts.
. The Fleischmans will return
to Detroit on Aug. 7.

Mrs. Klein to Continue
Operation of the Jules
Klein Orchestra Agency

Mrs. Jules (Lillian) Klein
announced this week that she
will continue operating the
Jules Klein Music and Enter-
tainment Agency, with offices
at 705 Book Building.
Her late husband, who passed
away the latter part of June,
was the organizer and for more
than 30 years the manager of
this entertainment agency
which supplies orchestra music
and entertainment in this area
for private as well as public
affairs.
Mrs. Klein announced that
Harry Van Horn, who was as-
sociated with Klein in the op-
eration of the agency, and was
his right hand man all these
years, will continue with it.
"We will supply the best of
entertainment in the sane fash-
ion as we did in the past and
there will be no change in the
policies of our agency," Mrs.
Klein said..

mony June 23, at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek, Cyrille Barbara Gordon
became the bride of Dr. Jason
Alvin Goode. Rabbi Morris. Ad-
ler and Cantor Jacob Sonenklar
officiated.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Betty Gordon, of Oakman
Blvd., and the .late Rabbi Harry
Z. Gordon. The bridegroom is
the son of the Isadore L.
Goodes, of Pontiac.
Included in the bridal party
were Mrs. Frank Burlak, Mari-
lyn Goode, Eleanore Rudner,
Mrs. David Lippitt and Karen
Lipkin. Capt. Conrad Goode
flew here from Guam to attend
his brother as best man. Ushers
were Morton Demak, Gerald
Schreiber, Bert Gordon, Dr.
Peter Martin, Dr. Joseph Cabot
and Louis Soverinsky.
Out-of-town guests attending
the ceremony were from Los
Angeles, Chicago, Toledo, Mi-
ami Beach and Flint.
Following their honeymoon at
the Concord and New York
City, the couple have taken up
residence on Third Ave.

Following dinner and recep-
tion, the couple left for a
honeymoon in Jamaica. They
will make their home in
Detroit.

62-Man Histadrut Group
Meets with Israel Leaders

JERUSALEM, (JTA) — A 62-
member delegation from the
American Histadrut campaign,
the largest to visit Israel, was
received by President Itzhak
Ben-Zvi and later met with Pre-
mier David Ben-Gurion and
Speaker of the Knesset Joseph
Sprinzak. The Americans, head-
ed by Isaac Hamlin, will spend
three weeks in the Jewish State,
