ment bureaucrat.
Dr. Goldmann told the little
bureaucrat he could go take a
leap in a big body of water.
But the bureaucrat, it appears,
had some judicial power and
forthwith proceeded to fine Dr.
Goldmann a pound or its equiv-
alent for lese m a j e s t e. Dr.
Goldmann had no alternative
but to pay the fine.
Returning to his car, Dr.
Goldmann rode on and then
recalled that in the hubbub he
had not paid the requisite 2-
pound fee for the official paper,
so he was a pound to the good.

Discuss Economic Aid
with William Rountree
WASHINGTON (JTA)—Israel
Ambassador Alpha Eban dis-
cussed U.S. economic aid for
the coming fiscal year with Wil-
liam Rountree, Assistant Sec-
retary of State for Near Eastern
Affairs.
He declined to mention an
estimate of the amount Israel
might expect for the new year.
Me•r Sherman, Israeli economic
expert, participated in the 45-
minute meeting.
The Saudi Arabian Ambas-
sador called on Rountree last
week-end to complain against
"Israeli fleet movements" in
the Gulf of Aqaba. The Am-
bassador alleged . that Israeli
naval vessels fired on the
Saudi coast: He gave Rountree
the same report Saudi Arabia
submitted last week to the
United Nations.
