Yeshivah to Sponsor
Suburban- Day School

The Suburban Hebrew Acad-
emy, a day school to be oper-
ated by the Yeshivath Beth
Yehudah, will begin classes in
Oak Park this September.
The opening of the academy
is the result of considerable
planning by rabbinical and lay
leaders. With the Jewish popu-
lation shifting, there has been a
long-felt need to provide day
school facilities in the suburbs.
Rabbi Leizer Levin, chairman
of the presidium of the Detroit
Council of Orthodox Rabbis,
has been named to chair a com-
mittee of rabbis and educators
who will supervise the new in-
stitution and plan its curricu-
lum.
Registration for the academy,
which will open with a nursery,
kindergarteh and first grade,
will be limited. For information
or registration, call WE. 1-0203
or LI. 7-6671.

Not Ready to Believe
Germans Have Change

L

Editor, The Jewish News:
Your preceding two issue
caused some serious reflection
and also some sadness. To a
extent, your editorial in the lat •
ter issue most effectively an .
swered the disquieting matte
of the first issue.
I was deeply chagrined by the
coverage you gave to the Ger p•
mans. It was, in my judgment
an apalling case of forgetful
ness, precisely that which yo t
decried in the editorial referre
to a week later.
It is not believed that th '
time is here for a Jew to "dea -
amicably" with representative ;
of a people who have wrong ed
us as much as have the Germ
beasts. It is not believed tha
the time has come for a Jew to
fraternize with those who had
loosened a regime of murder
and pillage upon our peopl e
which is beyond human com-
prehension. It is not believe d
that it is fair to the memory
of our martyrs to have a dis-
tinguished and honored rabbi
offer an invocation for hu-
manity in the presence of the
missionaries of a people whose
crimes against humanity are
crying to high Heaven for re-
dress; and to have another dis-
tinguished and renowned rabbi
depict, upon his return from a
visit to the land soaked with
the blood of OUT brethren, in
all but glowing terms, the
beast's repentence.
This matter would not have
been so tragic were it not for
the short-sightedness w h i c h
such a policy on our part be-
trays. Would that it were true
that it could be said that the
present G e r m a n s cannot be
blamed for what their prede-
cessors had done yesterday.
Would that it could be said that
those of today are truly con-
trite, that they escew the mur-
derous conduct of the former
mentors and that they are de- ,
termined to,te good.

The most heinous and collosal
crimes, which beggar descrip-
tion, committed against our peo-
ple by that bestial race must
have entailed the participation
of multitudes of sadistic Ger-
mans, of whom undoubtedly
many are still at large. And for
aught that we know the hands
which our Jewish leaders have
grasped. at the gatherings re-
ferred to are dripping with the
blood of our hapless brothers,
sisters and innocent waifs done
to death by the German beast.
Is. any one so naive as to be-
lieve that these criminals have
undergone a change of heart,
or that they shall fail to pro-
claim loudly and demonstrably
that they should be absolved
from blame?

It is obvious that the over-all
plans of the campaign now
waged by the Germans to cap-
ture the good will of mankind
requires precisely such tactics,
and, more especially, the molli-
fying of Jewish opinion as a
step in that direction. Our
leaders, with notorious Jewish
willingness to forgive and for-
get, are made deft use of by the
cunning of those who direct the
campaign.
