Suburban Housewife Directs
Democratic Political Fortunes

By the Oak-Woodser
Responsibility for decisions of
the Democratic ;Party in the
South Oakland County area, for
the second straight year, will
rest with Mrs. Faye Moskowitz,
a young, suburban housewife
and mother of three children.
Mrs. Moskowitz, of 13661 W.
Lincoln, Oak Park, was installed
last week as chairman of the
Democratic club at dinner cere-
monies in the Fox and Hounds
Inn, at which Michigan Su-
preme Court Justice Jolm
Voelker was guest speaker.
The move to the suburbs,
Mrs. Moskowitz feels, has
given women a greater voice
in Democratic politics. In the
metropolitan areas, men are
in politics because of their af,
filiation with union work, she
said.
HoWeyer, in the suburban
areas, where there is not as
much union activity, women
have taken over because they
have more time, Mrs. Mosko-
witz added.
Her interest In political ac-
tivity zoomed, Mrs. Moskowitz
says, when Adlai Stevenson
first ran far President in 1952.
In that election she served as

a precinct delegate.
Since that time, she has
served as secretary, vice-pres-
ident and now chairman of the

Dems Fired Up

The Democratic Club of
Oak Park, Huntington Woods
and Pleasant Ridge provided
an uncommonly warm recep-
tion for their re-elected chair-
man, Mrs. Faye Moskowitz at
the installation banquet.
As guests at the banquet,
held at the Fox and Hounds,
were finishing their appe-
tizers, the roof of the ad-
joining kitchen went up in
flames from a grease fire.,
After evacuating the ban-
quet room on the second floor
for a half an hour, the guests
returned when kitchen help
and the Bloomfield Hills Fire
Department quickly got the
flames under control. None
of the diners on the first floor
left the building.

children, Shoshana, 7, a n d
Frank, 5, are pupils at the Beth
Shalom Religious School and
attend Tyler public school. They
have another son, Seth, who is 2.

Zionist since her youth when
she was a member of Habo-
nim, has served as a solicitor
for the Allied Jewish Cam-

to manage between all these ac-
