tlement of all claims against
the Austrian Government by
persons who suffered racial or
political persecution between
1934 and 1945 is "urgent," vice
chancellor Bruno Pittermann, a
Social Democrat, declared to-
day. Thanks to the present fa-
vorable political atmosphere in
this country, a definite solution
to this problem can now be
found, Pittermann told the
Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
Relief funds - under restitu-
tion legislation already on the
books - have been granted, so
far, to 10,000 persecutees living
abroad, according to a govern-
ment announcement here.
