House of Shelter Aids
116 Homeless Persons

Some 116 people received
gratis lodging this year at the
Detroit House of Shelter, ac-
cording to a release issued by
the Jewish Social Service Bu-
reau. Of that number, 83 were
transients. The rest were refu-
gees, some of whom stayed for
as long as six weeks in the
House until they found adequate
housing.-
Almost 2,000 meals, including
holiday meals, were served this
year in the House.
During Passover, 22 men from
Northville State Hospital, Ypsi-
lanti and Lapeer were guests at
the House, according to Mrs.
Ben Dorn, chairman of the wo-
men's auxiliary. Besides attend-
ing seders and services, the
guests were provided with new
ensembles of clothing for the
holiday, were entertained and
shown the city sights.
Mrs. Margaret Weiner, secre-
tary of the House board, is in
charge of admissions and dis-

settlement Service, for which
Mrs. Weiner also is a casework-

should receive temporary lodg-

dry services of the House.
The House of Shelter is sup-
