June School Conference
Set by Labor Zionists

The Annual School Confer-
ence of the Labor Zionist Move-
ment will be held at 10 a.m.,
June 23, in the LZ Institute,
according to a release by Harry
Mondry and Harold Berke,
chairman of the United Jewish
Folk Schools and president of
the Parent Teachers Associa-
tion, respectively.
In addition to the official
delegates, all Chaverim of Poale
Zion, Farband and Pioneer
Women are invited to attend
the conference.
The annual graduation cele-
bration for the Folk Schools
will take place at 8 p.m., June
18, in the Morris Schaver audi-
torium of the Institute. The
cantata, "Groyse Lett" • (great
leaders) will be presented. Ja-7
cob Glaser and OsCar Rappa-
port are Chairmen of the gradu-
tion bulletin..
Enrollment for the School's
fall term currently is being ac-
cepted for children 31/4 to 5

Harvey Traison, 17-year-old
son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Traison, of 7154 Thatcher, has
been awarded a four-year Re-
gents-Alumni Scholarship to the
University of Michigan.
Harvey, who will graduate
next month from the High
School of Commerce, also was
offered a Wayne State Univer-
sity tuition scholarship.
On Wednesday, he will be
presented with the Detroit Po-
lice Department youth award
at a luncheon scheduled in the
Veterans Memorial Bldg., 151
W. Jefferson.
The all-A student will enter
the University of Michigan in
September. He will study busi-
ness administration,
In addition to his school ac-
tivities, Harvey has been on
Junior Town Meeting of the Air
and several other radio and tel-
evision shows, and he has par-
ticipated in the last two Detroit
Boys' Day programs, serving as
City Plan Commissioner and
Lighting Commissioner.
He is a member of the Detroit
High School Student Council,
the Intra-Metropolitan Sports-
manship Council, Detroit Youth
Council, Detroit Association of
Science Clubs and International
Honorary Society of High School
Journalism.
He also is active in Aleph Za-
dik Aleph, Bnai Brith youth
group, and serves his chapter as
secretary.
