Louis Roubach, executive chair- man of International Women's ORT and president of the French ORT, visiting in Detroit this week. Interviewed at a tea held in her honor at the home of Mts. Sidney Weisman, 19525 Suffolk, Mme. Roubach declared that ORT aid is ur- gently needed for thousands of refugees traversing Europe en route to Israel or other havens. ORT (Organization of Re- habilitation through Training), founded 80 years ago by Baron de Gunzbourg in. Moscow, Rus- sia, maintains hundreds of classrooms for training un- skilled, dis-oriented persons to lead normal and useful lives in society. ORT presently as- sists 20,000 students, Mme. Rou- bach said. The organization's greatest accomplishments have been in Israel, the world chairman feels. However, much assistance is needed for refugees in France. Paris, explained Mme. Rou- bach, seems to be a gathering point for those fleeing oppres- sion in Europe, Africa and Asia. Women's ORT work is divided among groups of various coun- tries. In the United States, South -Africa and England, em phasis is placed on supporting technical training and schools. In France, North Africa, Israel and Italy social rehabilitation is stressed, Mme. Roubach said. Mme. Roubach, who has worked more than 20 years with ORT, stated that the or- ganization is the most popular one in the French Jewish com- munity. Owner of a large Paris plant for windows, frames and doors, she has two married sons. One, 33, manages the plant. The other, 31, an Israeli resident for the past 10 years, fought and was wounded in the Israeli War for Indepedence. He is now a diplomat in that coun- try's foreign office. - PORT STANLEY, ONTARIO ■ Women Inspired by ORT Leader For Reservations and Information, Adele Myerson, Magnolia 1500 DOW-JONES TICKER SERVICE A policy of "top name attrac- tions" for this year's summer season at the Stevensville Lake Hotel, on Swan Lake, N.Y., has been announced by the resort's host, Harry Dinerstein.
