Rapid Allied Campaign Triumph Marked by
Pledge to Go on Striving for $6
Goal; Sobeloff Honored on .20th Year Here

, Scholars from all sections of
the country will assemble, in
Philadelphia Sunday, for the
69th annual meeting of the
Jewish • Publication Society of
America, - according to an an-
nouncement by Edwin Wolf,
2nd, JPS president.
- The meeting, at the Warwick
Hotel, will include morning and
afternoon sessions held for the
purpose of reviewing the past
y e a r' s accomplishments and
planning the 'program foi the
coming year. Sessions held in
the morning and early after-
noon will be devoted to deliber-
, ations by members of the pub-
lication - committee, who will
study manuscripts and projects
being considered for publica-
tion. Judge Louis E. Levinthal
is chairman of the committee,
and Dr. Solomon Grayzel is
editor.
In mid-afternoon, the board
of trustees will meet to review
the -recommendations made by
the publication committee. At
3:30 p.m., the 69th annual mem-
bership meeting will commence.
Reports will be made by the
officers, and elections will be
held. After the business session,
a cultural program will feature
a discussion of the subject
"New Light on the Eternal
Book" by Prof. E. A. Speiser
of the University of Pennsyl-
vania, a member of the editorial
advisory 'committee which is
currently engaged in preparing
a revised translation of the JPS
Bible. '
Founded in 1888, for the pur-
pose of preserving the Jewish
tradition of culture through the
publication and dissemination
of good books on religion, his-
tory and literature, JPS .distri-
butes its books through a un-
ique membership plan and also
by direct distribution to book-
stores, schools and libraries.
