WASHINGTON—The present
national commander of the Jew-
ish War Veterans and a former
commander have emerged on
different sides of a bill that
would, in effect, reward Nazi
industrialists who financed

ler.
The ex-commander of JWV
is registered by the U.S.. De-
partment of Justice as a paid
lobbying agent for the Germans.
In his view "it is the moral and
legal responsibility of the United
States to return these properties
to their rightful owners." The
mastermind behind this cam-
paign for the "sanctity of pri-
vate property" is Dr. Herman
J. Abs, one of Hitler's chief
financial aids in the aryaniza-'
tion of Jewish property.
Senators• are studying an
address by the current JWV
commander, William Carmen.
He pointed ctut how the Ger-
mans now "scream so self-
righteously about the sanctity
of private property." That na-
tion "but for the grace of

on behind-the-scenes develop-
ments in the Middle East. Fried-
man, who is appearing in De-
troit and elsewhere in Michigan
under the sponsorship of the

to Jewish communities.
Refreshments following the

dle Eastern aspects of the big
power struggle. He has covered
other international conferences
and investigated at first hand
the situation of Jews behind
the Iron Curtain.
Friedman has written not
only for the Israel and Jewish
press but has also contributed
articles in leading magazines.
His news commentary was once
carried by the American Broad-
casting Corp. and he appears
on radio and TV news panels.
