Glogower, De- troit communal leader, was re- elected a vice-president of the National Jewish Welfare Board (JWB) at the 40th annual meet- ing of the organization's board of directors . in New York last Sunday. Re-elected president at the meeting, which reviewed JWB's four decades of service in the American Jewish community, 'was Charles • Aaron, Chicago attorney. The Frank L. Weil Awards of JWB, given annually for out- standing service in three fields of service, went to Rabbi Joseph Lookstein, of New York, for "distinguished contributions to Jewish personnel in the armed forces"; Dr. Solomon Grayzel, editor of the Jewish Publication Society, for , aiding the develop- ment of American Jewish cul- ture; and Louis Stern, chairman of JWB's Jewish Center Divi- sion, for advancing the Center movement. Earlier, the conference heard reports on the growth of co- operative relationships between synagogues and Jewish centers throughout the country. Of 102 centers that answered question- naires, 38 per cent replied that they conduct activities in the synagogue; 50 per cent said they offer program consultation or other service to synagogues; -25 per cent indicate assistance by synagogues in conducting Cen- - ter programs; and 35 per cent conduct joint 'activities.
