Greenbaum-Bernstein Re-Elect Detroiter
Nuptials Set June 1 7 to JWB Office

MISS ,FAITH GREENBAUM

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Greenbaum,
of Robson Ave., announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Faith, to Jerome Bernstein, son
of Mr. and Mrs. David Bern,
stein.
Miss Greenbaum will gradu-
ate this June from Wayne State
University. Her fiance attends
the WSU law school, and is af-
filiated with Kappa Nu and Tau
Epsilon Rho law fraternity.
The couple is planning a June
1'7 wedding.

Hartman, Rubin Head
Flint Men's Division

Sidney Hartman and Irving
Rubin have been named. chair-
man and associate chairman, re-
spectively, of general solicitation
in the Men's Division of the
19577 Flint United Jewish Ap-
peal, it was announced this
week by Joseph Megdell and
Marcus Lebster, general cam-
paign co-chairmen.
Workers in the division will
hold their first meeting at a
breakfast gathering scheduled
for 10 a.m., Sunday, in Beth
Israel Synagogue.
After viewing the new UJA
film, "The Defenders," workers
will receive their assignments.

Mrs. Samuel G. Glogower, De-
troit communal leader, was re-
elected a vice-president of the
National Jewish Welfare Board
(JWB) at the 40th annual meet-
ing of the organization's board
of directors . in New York last
Sunday.
Re-elected president at the
meeting, which reviewed JWB's
four decades of service in the
American Jewish community,
'was Charles • Aaron, Chicago
attorney.
The Frank L. Weil Awards
of JWB, given annually for out-
standing service in three fields
of service, went to Rabbi Joseph
Lookstein, of New York, for
"distinguished contributions to
Jewish personnel in the armed
forces"; Dr. Solomon Grayzel,
editor of the Jewish Publication
Society, for , aiding the develop-
ment of American Jewish cul-
ture; and Louis Stern, chairman
of JWB's Jewish Center Divi-
sion, for advancing the Center
movement.
Earlier, the conference heard
reports on the growth of co-
operative relationships between
synagogues and Jewish centers
throughout the country. Of 102
centers that answered question-
naires, 38 per cent replied that
they conduct activities in the
synagogue; 50 per cent said they
offer program consultation or
other service to synagogues; -25
per cent indicate assistance by
synagogues in conducting Cen- -
ter programs; and 35 per cent
conduct joint 'activities.

Mrs. Charles Solovich, of De-
troit, was elected second vice-
president at the meeting, at
which Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt
and Benjamin R. Epstein, na-
tional director of the Anti-
Defamation League, were prin-
cipal speakers.
One of the resolutions adopted
called on the United States to
insure United Nations control of
the Gaza area, support freedom
of passage through the 'Gull of
Aqaba and Suez Canal and take
diplomatic action to halt the re-
newal of fedayeen raids into
Israel.

Wayne County Board of Super-
visors.
"It was my privilege to re-
appoint Mr. Blum for the third
year, •and I know that the
members of the Board of Super-
visors share with me a high
regard for him," Councilman
Youngblood said.
During the past two terms,
Blum served on the Greater
Wayne Major Airport committee
which is developing the enlarged
airport. He is a member. of
the Sheriff's committee which
recently recommended the ex-
pansion of the Wayne County
Jail facilities and recommended
the $2,50-0,000 addition pres-
ently underway.
