With the seniors in Washing-
ton seeing the sights and mid-
semester exams over, the last
few days have been quiet ones
here.
Speaking of seniors, the class
motto for the graduates. of June
'57 has been chosen. "Look to
papers and old friends is just
what U of Msters in town have
been doing this spring recess
which began last Friday.
Prior to vacation, the uni-
versity announced that 171 stu-
dents achieved "all A's" last
semester, among them Janis Sil-
verstine, Tobye Kaye, Thomas
Bickel, Lloyd Gelman, Barbara
Halpern, Joan Rodman, Samuel
Sandweiss, Jerry -Wells and
Henry Appelman.

a local artist will begin this

tion for the artist, FREDA
KROLL, from 2 to 8 p.m. Miss
Kroll, a graduate of Wayne
State University, is a former
art teacher here. Her show will
include oils, gouches and water-
colors.

luncheon for the Institute Build-
ing Committee, scheduled for

ground-breaking ceremonies for

speaking community. -
Friends of Mr. Bercovich are
presently forming committees to
immortalize his name in Los
Angeles, Grand Rapids, Chicago
and- New York. The new Insti- •
tute is intended as the center
of Yiddish language and culture
for which he strived.
The Institute soon will issue
a special .bulletin to familiarize
the Jewish community with Mr.
Bercovich, his works and ideals,
according to 'a press release by
