Joint Banquet
Planned March 31
The annual banquets of
Young Israel of Northwest De-
troit and Young Israel Center
of Oak-Woods will be com-
bined into one affair, to be
celebrated on March 31, at the
Latin Quarter.
The first joint undertaking of
the two groups, the newest ad-
ditions to the Council of Young
Israel of Metropolitan Detroit,
will feature Irving M. Bunim,
businessman and leader in
'Orthodox Jewry, as guest
speaker.
Planning the program for YI
of Northwest Detroit are Gor-
don Kozda, chairman; Norman
Sukenic and Gus Lew, journal;
Harry Blitz, tickets; Arthur
Klein and Milton Duchan, en-
tertainment.
Others are Sol Wainer, Irving
Cone, Dave and Sylvia Gold-
smith, Sam Belkin, Sidney
Averbuch, Rabbi Leo Y. Gold-

Young Israel of Oak-Woods

The first appearance in De-
troit of Morton Shames, operatic
singer and star of Broadway,
radio and television, will high-
light the entertainment. Music
will be provided by Sammy
Woolf and his orchestra.

Dinner to Honor Rabbi Rabinowitz
on 60th Birthday, Ministry Service
Rabbi Joseph Rabinowitz,
known to disciples as the Brez-
ner Rebe, will be honored at a
testimonial dinner, to take place
at 6:30 p.m.. March 24, in the

The event will commemorate
the rabbi's 60th birthday and
observance of his 30 years
in the Detroit ministry.
Guest speaker at the dinner

Organization, the merged group
of Mizrachi and Hapoel Ham-
izrachi, has called a special con-
ference for 11 a.m., March 24,
at Young Israel Center, on Dex-
