Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Mor-
gano, of Ilene Ave., announce
the engagement of their.. daugh-
ter, Sharon Lorraine, to Ray-
mond Berk, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Morris Berk, of Birwood Ave.
" The bride-elect is a graduate
of Wayne State University, and
is affiliated with Delta Phi Ep-
silon sorority. Mr. Berk is now
attending the Detroit Institute
of Technology.
An Aug. 20 wedding is
planned.

Hope-for-Juveniles Club
to Sponsor Theater Party

A theater party at Stage Cen-
ter, 13525 Woodward, will be
sponsored by the Detroit Hope
for Juveniles at 8:30 p.m., Sun-
day. The play will be "Awake
and Sing," by Clifford Odets.
Proceeds will be donated to
the Cystic Fibrosis Fund for re-
search, which attempts to alle-
viate the pancreas disease fatal
to young children.

Plans are now completed for
the annual Stephen S. Wise
Dinner-,Dance, to be held at
6:45 p.m., Wednesday, at the
Elmwood Casino in Windsor.
Under sponsorship of the De-
troit Women's Division of the
Ainerican Jewish Congress, the
program will feature dinner
followed by dancing and a floor
show headed by Juanita Hall,
the original Bloody Mary of
"South Pacific."
The yearly function of Con-
gress honors the birthday of
the founder of the AJ Congress,
the late Rabbi Stephen S. Wise.
Proceeds are used to support
Congress activities.
Mrs. Louis Redstone, presi-
dent of the Women's Division,
has announced that this year's
funds will be sent to the Louise
Waterman Wise Youth Center in
Jerusalem and for the David
Petegorsky Scholarship Awards,
the latter in memory of the
former executive director of
Congress.
Mrs. Manuel Klinger is fund-
raising chairman, and Mrs. Sid-
ney Michals is chairman of the
dinner-dance. They are assisted
by Mesdames Ralph Polsky,
Joseph Siegel and John Stur-
man. •
Others assisting in planning
the event are Mesdames Myron
Cole, adviser; Harry If. -Jacobs,
book chairman; and various
chapter chairmen, Mesdames Al

Adas Shalom Couples
to Hear Psychologist

Dr. Sidney Rosenblum, direc-
tor of psychology at Wayne
County Training Center, North-
ville, Mich., and a lecturer in
clinical psychology at Wayne
State University, will address
a_ meeting of the Adas Shalom
Young Married Couples Club
on Wednesday evening, in the
board room.
A question and answer pe-
riod will follow Dr. Rosen-
blum's address on "Understand-
ing Your Child's Personality."
The group also is planning
its "Flapper Frolic" dance at
8:30 p.m., March 9, in the syna-
gogue social hall. The dramatic
group will entertain with a
skit, •"Roaring Twenties," dur-
ing intermission.
Assisting Mr. and Mrs. Ed
Schwartz, the evening's chair-
men, are the Bill Sklars, Al
Goldsteins and Arnold Flaks.

The Women's Committee of
United Community Services of
Metropolitan Detroit observed
its 22nd birthday, Feb. 13, at
Masonic Temple.
Highlight of the luncheon pro-
gram was the premiere showing
of a new motion picture on com-
munity services, "Who Kills The
Tiger," produced in cooperation
With Wayne State University.
Prof. Lawrence Silverman di-
rected and photographed the
film. The music was written by
Glen H. Gould, and was played
by members •of the Detroit Sym-
phony Orchestra. The. film will
be available for TV and theater
bookings as well as for groups
interested in social service prob-
lerns.
Mrs. Aaron Gershenson will
share executive duties with Mrs.
Theodore R. Buttrick, Jr., and
Mrs. William P. Fisher as vice-
- chairman of the UCS Women's
Committee. Mrs. Isidore Sobel-
off was named recording sec-
retary. Mrs. Roger Barnes was
elected new chairman.
Mrs. Leonard H. W e i n e r,
culminating two years as head
chairman of the UCS Women's
group, which numbers some
2,000 active members, presided
at the meeting and reported on
activities of the past year.
