world where Jews are unable
to live in ' peace and dignity,
women feel that by contributing
$1,000 singularly, or in part
which will be added to other
eontributions, they are literally
paving a Jewish life.

Call Cancellation of Eternal Light 'Not Permanent'

NEW YORK (JTA)—Cancel-
lations of the "Eternal Light".
dramatic program by NBC radio
outlets, such as that of WLW in
Cincinnati in January, occur
from time to time, but in every
case another station has picked
up the program, a spokesman
for the Jewish Theological Sem-
inary said this week.
The Cincinnati radio station
dropped the program, which is
produced for both radio and
television by the Conservative
Seminary, because the show was
losing its audience steadily dur-
ing 1856, according to a station
official.
A report that one of the
factors in the WLW decision
was listener disapproval of
criticisms of United States poli-
cies in the Middle East was
discounted by the Seminary
spokesman.
In its 13th year, the Eternal
Light program is being carried

conference for Israel Bonds at
the Fontainbleau Hotel.
The Combined Jewish Appeal
has just started its 1957 cam-
paign to raise $1,168,000 for
local, national and overseas
needs, and an additional Emer-
gency Rescue Fund of $1;500,000
to help save the lives of 100,000
Jews fleeing oppression in North
Africa, many . satellite countries
and Egypt.
The Israel Bond conference
session which Mr. Truman will
address will take the form of a
national celebration of the 65th
birthday of Eddie Cantor, -who
will be honored for more than
20 years of leadership and serv-
ice on behalf of Israel.
Admission to the Cant or
Birthday Dinner will be based
on purchases of $1,000 or more
in Israel bonds. Key communi-
ties from coast to coast will hold
simultaneous Eddie Cantor
birthday celebrations on Satur-
day, and will be linked with the

Beach via closed-circuit tele-
vision hook-up. Speakers at the

by 98 stations throughout the
United States, the spokesman
said, adding that the - list of
stations probably was not iden-
tical with the list of a year
ago.
The spokesman said that
many factors are involved, in
station listings of the "Eternal
Light," citing as an example
that when television stations
first came into the midwest,

many radio stations dropped
network shows to concentrate
on locally-developed programs.
"The Seminary has every ex-
pectation that the Eternal Light
audience in Cincinnati will soon
have the opportunity to hear
the program again regularly,"
the spokesman said but declined
comment on whether other can-
cellations had been for reason
of loss of audience interest.
