Cantor's Daughter
in Detroit to Meet
with Bond Leaders

"You don't have to be a Zi-
onist, to work for Israel Bonds.
You just have to be someone
who feels," stated Marilyn
Cantor, second-youngest daugh-
ter of comedian Eddie Cantor,
to a gathering in her honor at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dan
Le Vine this week. Miss Cantor
was in Detroit on Tuesday and
Wednesday on behalf of the
Israel Bond emergency cam-
paign.
Miss Cantor's visit helped
stimulate $98,450 worth of bond
purchases during her two days
here. Included in the sum is
$10,000 given by Mrs. Max Stoll-
man, who thereby became an
Israel Bond trustee.
The celebrity's present will
culminate i n Miami, with a
luncheon, where she can "re-
new friendships with the women
met here," and a dinner honor-
ing the 65th birthday of her
father, Feb. 15 and 16 at the
Fountainbleau Hotel.
("Daddy prefers to think the
dinner will be dedicated to the
courage and efforts of the Is-
raelis, rather than to himself,"
she confided.)
The only one of the Cantor
daughters actively campaign-
ing for Israel Bonds, she has
been doing so since mid-
January, atfer appearing
with her father in a coast-
to-coast TV show in Califor-
nia. "Not sentiment, not Zi-
onism, but the strong feeling
that support is needed for
Israel," caused her to partici-
pate in the drive.
Israel Bonds is the first Jew-
ish cause for which she has
worked out of New York City,
where she lives. In the past
she has performed with that
city's UJA and Hadassah thea-
ter committees.
A couple of years ago, she
carried on 17-hour telethons
nationally for • Cerebral Palsy.
An entertainer, Miss Cantor
has sung and danced at some
of the better night clubs across
the country.
A graduate of Cumnock High
School and College in Califor-
nia, she completed studies in
New York's American Academy
of Dramatic Art.
Exposed to the Israeli cause
all her life, she became an' avid
supporter during the past few
years. "Israel must be helped
in every possible way," she de-
clares.

the pin shown above. Accord-
ing to Mrs. Max Stollman,
sponsor chairman of the De-
troit Women's Division, State

Mrs. Philip Helfman, chair-
man, advises that as the date
of the fashion show draws near,
activity is being speeded up. The
goal of $150,000 originally set is
expected now to be passed, she
said.
Mrs. Max Stoliman, 1957 spon-
sors chairman, stated this week
that it is hoped to enroll 100
women as national sponsors by
Thursday's program.
Sponsorship, Mrs. Stollman
pointed out, entitles the pur-
chaser of a $1,000 bond to attend
the brunch and award ceremony
which will precede the fashion
show. Each sponsor, at that
time, will receive her pin from
Mrs. Lowenthal, who is honor-
ary president of the National
Women's Division.
As a special attraction, Re-
gina Resnik, leading soprano of
the Metropolitan Opera Com-
pany, will be a guest at the
brunch.
