Enrollment in Set Weekend of Activities
UHS Classes for Temple Israel Dedication
Starts Feb. 4
Enrollment for the new semes-
ter of the United Hebrew
Schools is now being conducted.
Classes for beginners will start
Feb. 4. Parents are urged to en-
roll their children early to in-
sure proper arrangements.
The Bar Mitzvah regulation
of the synagogues require a
minimum of four years training
in a Hebrew School as a pre-
requisite for Bar Mitzvah. Chil-
dren who have reached the ages
of 8 and 9 should be enrolled
in order to meet these regula-
tions. Bar Mitzvah preparation
is part of the Hebrew School
course for which there are no
extra fees.
Special classes for girls are
now being enrolled in most
branches of the United Hebrew
Schools, in addition to the regu-
lar classes which are open to
both boys and girls. These
classes, conducted on a limited
basis, are designed especially to
prepare the girls for Jewish liv-
ing in the home.
Enrollment, now taking place
for the Nursery School Branch,
Schaefer and Seven Mile Road,
is limited to 50 children. This
nursery school is accredited by
the State of Michigan. Trans-
portation to and from nursery
is available. Children between
the ages of 3 and 4 1/2 are
eligible. For information, call
DI. 1-3407.
Registration is also taking
place for the Sholem Aleichem
School, an affiliate of the
United Hebrew Schools, and for
the Workmen's Circle School.
The transportation system of
the United Hebrew Schools, con-
sisting of 16 buses and three
station wagons, provides trans-
portation for children from all
Jewish areas of the city and the
suburbs to the closest Hebrew
school branch.
