Sisterhoods to Mark
`Uniongram Day'
More than 100,000 members
of 534 Sisterhoods affiliated
with the National Federation of
Temple Sisterhoods will observe
National Uniongram Day Mon-
day. Although "Uniongrams"
are sold the year round, spe-
cial emphasis will be placed on
their sale next Monday, when
the organization observes its
44th birthday.
Uniongrams are similar to
telegraph blanks, but the mes-
sages written on them are sent
by regular mail in special en-
velopes. They are sold by Sis-
terhoods of Reform congrega-
tions throughout the United
States and other countries for
use cr, such occasions as birth-
days, anniversaries, confirma-
tions, graduations, and for mes-
sages of condolence.

Michigan Department, Jewish
War Veterans, will undertake a
one-day March-of-Dimes fund-
raising drive on Jan. 27. To be
known as the "Jewish War- Vet-
erans March of Dimes Day," the
campaign will cover west and
northwest Detroit.
In announcing the special ef-
fort, Larry Gubow, department
commander, stated, "We urge
all our posts, members and
friends to support this worthy
drive. But whether you contrib-
ute on the 27th or not, be sure
to support this lifesaving cause."
The March of Dimes is only
one part of the child activities
of JWV. Other work includes
presentation of parties, gifts and
clothes to children at the Wayne
County Juvenile Detention
Home, parties at Lapeer Hosbi-
tal, camperships to needy chil-
dren, medical assistance and
clothing to children of veterans.
The forthcoming JWV "Star
Spangled Revue" on Feb. 17 will
provide needed funds for such
activities during 1957.
