Farband Sets $60,000 Goal
for Testimonial to Schumer

As plans for the Testimonial
Supper Honoring the 60th birth-
day of Harry Schumer moved
into high gear this week, mem-
bers of Schumer's own Farband
Branch 137 set a goal of $60,000
in the Histadrut Campaign.
The testimonial, being spon-
sored by the Histadrut in co-
operation with all divisions of
the Labor Zionist Organization,
will be held at 8:30 p.m., Jan.
17, in the Schaver auditorium of
the Labor Zionist Institute.
Chairing the Arlazaroff sec-
tion of the campaign is Morritz
Schubiner, who was elected this
week. There will be 14 captains,
as yet unnamed.
Contributions honoring Schu-
mer have been coming in to
Histadrut headquarters regular-
ly, the latest being a $300 gift
from employees of his General
Linen Supply Co. staff.
With tension in Israel and the
entire Middle East still show-
ing no sign of easing, Histadrut
spokesmen felt that they would
achieve their goal of ending the
major phase of the drive by the
Schumer event.
An example of the realization
b y contributors o f Israel's
urgent needed for funds was
shown by a letter which accom-
panied an additional donation
to the Histadrut Campaign by
one contributor.
