Israeli Capta ailed as Spy TEL AVIV (JTA)—Alexa Yulin, former Israel Army cap- tain who has been convicted of acting as a spy for Egypt, was sentenced to five years' im- prisonment. Yulin had come to Israel from Russia shortly after the War of Liberation had broken , out in 1948, enlisted in the army, rose to a captaincy, and fought against the Egyptians in the Negev area. In 1955, he left Israel, after being released from the army, and went to Switzer- -land, carrying credentials as a correspondent for a local news- paper. According to the charges, he had been arrested in Switzer- land for black market opera- tions in foreign currency, later acted as a spy for the Russians in Vienna, tried to become a spy for the American intelli- gence services in Germany but was turned down-, and finally contacted the Egyptians in Paris. Burns, commander. of the United Nations emergency' force, held their third meeting here Wednesday to make ar- rangements for further Israel troop withdrawals in the Sinai Peninsula. Gen. Burns was ac- companied by Wing Commander A. G. Byford, who will corn- mand the UN air force to be set up as part of the emergency force to provide communica- tions and troop transport. Gen. Burns said the UN troops have already reached a depth of 75 miles into the Sinai Peninsula and that Indian contingents advancing south- wards had reached the Red Sea.
