Gives Funds for Retarded Children

Farband to Unveil Plaques

Honoring Departed Leaders

The unveiling of plaques me-
morializing three prominent
leaders in the Detroit commun-
ity will be a part of the program
of the annual Farband City Con-
ference .
The conference, to begin on
Dec. 29, in the Morris L. Schav-
er auditorium of the Labor
Zionist Institute, will feature an
address by Louis Segal, general
secretary of Farband.
The unveiling ceremony is
planned for the following day,
when the official naming of
rooms in the Institute will honor
the late Morris S. Kramer, Israel
M. Hertz and Alex Nichamin.
Harry Schumer, chairman of
the Farband City Committee,
will preside at sessions of the
conference.
Until his death in 1943, Mr.
Hertz was active in numerous
communal causes. He was a
charter member of Arlazaroff
Branch 137 of the Farband, and.

Auxiliary of the Maimonides Medical Society for its recent
donation to the Detroit Association for Retarded Children,

The letter, sent by Mrs. F. E. Anderson, director of DARC,
states that the money will sponsor schooling for a new group
of retarded youngsters. Other projects of the Society include
medical scholarships for needy students here and in Israel,
sponsorship of a clinical research laboratory at the Hadassah-
Hebrew University Medical School and furnishing of prosthetic
appliances for disabled veterans.

anniversary of the birth of the
late Justice Louis D. Brandeis,
arranged by Branch 4 of the
Labor Zionist Organization, at
the Labor Zionist Institute, to-
night, at 8:30, it was announced
by Ben Harold, branch chair-
man.
