honor of the 1957 Brotherhood
Week chairman, Harvey • S.
Firestone, Jr., chairman of
Firestone. Tire and Rubber Co.,
Nov. 15, at the Masonic Tem-

In a stirring address, in which
he upheld the principles of
inter-faith amity in the ad-
vancement of which the Na-
tional Conference of Christians
and Jews Was established ; Fire-
stone emphasized that "if we
want to be free, we_ must see
to it that others are free." He
declared that "we can defend
our rights and freedoms best
by defending the rights and
freedoms of others."

rector of the Detroit Round
Table, who reported on the
accomplishments of the good-

sented Firestone with an hon-

At a session presided over
by Abner Bregman, chairman of
the United Hias Service Board,
it was announced that , assur-

Bregman stated that in addi-

North African Jews to Canada
and Brazil.
At Saturday night's session,
Harry L. Lurie, a former
CJWFW executive director from
New York, predicted that within
2)5 years all communal organiza-
tions in the U.S. would corn-
bine religious and secular activi-
ties.
Because of the decrease in
the foreign born making diverse
cultural backgrounds, a common
core of Jewry will rise in its
stead, Lurie said.
His comments were made at
a dinner, at which the fourth
