Joseph Weitz, of Jerusalem, leader in the Keren Kayemeth Le'Israel, will be the guest speaker at a special meeting Wednesday, at 8:30 p.m., at Beth Abraham Synagogue, 8100 W. Seven Mile, the Jewish National Fund Council of Detroit an- nounced. Mr. Weitz came to Palestine from Russia in 1908 during the second Aliya, studied agricul- ture and became one of the leading spirits of the govern- ment of Israel. In 1922 the late Menachem Ussishkin invited him to join the Land and Af- forestation Department of the Keren Kayemeth. As a soil . expert, Mr. Weitz has written many books on the subject of land afforestation and agrarian problems. As head of the department of coloniza- tion and afforestation, he helped settle many immigrants on Jew- ish National Fund land. Several years ago he brought the idda and plans of settling the moun- tains, which is already taking root on the iudaean Mountains of the Jerusalem Corridor.
