$1 CARE Packages of Surplus Food
Now Available for Shipment to Israel
The Mizrachi. Organization of
Detroit has called attention to
an offer by the 1956 CARE
Food Crusade to send 22-pound
food packages to needy people
in Israel for only $1.
A variety of packages are
sent by CARE, but the average
package contains five pounds of
milk powder (makes 20 quarts
of milk), five pounds of rice, 5
pounds of flour and seven
pounds of cheese.
While designations may be
made on regular CARE packages
to specific individuals or or-
ganizations, these special sur-
plus food parcels may be sent
to Israel without designation.
The packages are packed and
shipped by CARE and distri-
buted to needy families in Israel
by the .Israeli Government's
Welfare Department. A previous
story which said distribution
was by Mizrachi is incorrect.
Names of contributors are in-
cluded in each package, and all
contributions are acknowledged.
CARE contributions are tax de-
ductible.
Checks to CARE, to be desig-
nated for Israel relief, can be
sent directly to CARE, 660 First
Ave., New York 16, N.Y., can be
sent through the CARE depart-
ments of Hudson's, Crowley's or
Demery's or may be sent to
