brings the front of the cold war to the

To make peace we need agreement
to negotiate and until there is agree-

EXTENSION OF REMARKS

HON, MARTHA W. GRIFFITHS

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Tuesday, April 17, 1956

Mrs. GRIFFITHS. Mr. Speaker, un-
der leave to extend my remarks, I

should like at this time to join my
fellow Americans in observance of an
historic occasion—the eighth anniver-
sary of the State of Israel.
Because we in America so strongly
helped with the birth of Israel, we
have a special stake in using our best
efforts to maintain peace and stability
in the Middle East.
Peace would not only benefit Israel,
which is using every human and nat-
ural resource to provide a better life
for its people. Elimination of the ten-
sions which now threaten to erupt in
full-scale war will be a source of re-
joicing to all people and will allow
Israel and her Arab neighbors to direct
their energies to the needs of their
peoples.
