Adolph Deutsch to Celebrate 75th Birthday This Tuesday

The thought of growing old-

Z but not Adolph Deutsch, corn-

w Detroit who is heralding his

nitz. Another sister, who chose
to remain in Hungary, perished
during the Nazi regime.
Settling in New Castle, Pa.,
in 1915, they came to Detroit
in 1921, and have lived here
permanently since that time.
After serving as manager of
the Bank of Detroit's West-
minster and Delmar branch for
a few years, in 1926 he started
the Moore-Deutsch Co., a firm
specializing in investment bank-
ing' and loans for insurance
companies. He is president of
the firm today. Mr. Deutsch
also is vice-president of Citi-
zens Mortgage Co., vice-presi-
dent of the Cadillac Square
Agency and president of the
Ohio Investment Co.
His biggest project, however,
was started at the age of 65
when most men are retired or
thinking about retirement.
In 1947, he organized the

American Savings and Loan
Association. Most people still
recall when the association
opened its doors at Dexter and
Cortland, offering an almost un-
heard of two percent interest.
Since that time, under the
guiding hand of Mr. Deutsch,
who is president, and his asso-
ciates, the association has six
offices in every area of the
city, offers 2 1/2 percent interest
and has assets over $50,000,000.
All in a period of 10 years.

In 1934, he was elected
president of Cong. Bnai
Moshe. After serving for two
years, he was elcted to and
remained on the board of di-
rectors to the present time.
His son, Alfred, has followed
in his footsteps, having serv-
ed for two years' as president
of Bnai Moshe just a short
time ago.

day celebration this Tuesday,
in the Grand Ballroom of the
Sheraton-Cadillac Hotel.
While he has limited some of
his activities in recent years,
Mr. Deutsch, as he approaches
his 75th birthday, is more ac-
tive than most men 20 years
his junior.
He still goes to his office ev-
ery day, manages his own real
estate interests, goes frequent-
ly to Knollwood Country Club
to play a round of golf and he
insisted on making his own
arrangements for his birthday
party.
When a person has so
many interests in life and
keeps as busy as Mr. Deutsch,
one of the chief requisites is
knowing how to relax. A con-
siderable portion of his peace
of mind comes on sabbath
morning, when Mr. Deutsch
is in his seat at Cong. Bnai
Moshe.
He has been a consistent sab-
bath observer and active in
the affairs of the synagogue
since he was president of Bnai
Moshe from 1934 to 1936.
Mr. Deutsch will be honored
at sabbath services of Bnai
Moshe this Saturday in observ-
ance of the occasion. A similar
tribute was given to him on his
70th birthday.
Born in Ercsi, Hungary, on
Oct. 25, 1881, Mr. Deutsch ar-
rived in the United States with
his family in 1900. With him
was his brother, Anthony, who,
prior to his death in 1938, was
prominent in the community,
and a sister, Mrs. Frances Rei-

ADDITIVE CONTROL

means to your heating comfort

Many heating oils contain an additive.
But often this additive "breaks down"
in storage . becomes a useless

clogs filters, screens and burners. This

"Additive Control." Scientific applica-
tion at the refinery means lasting
effectiveness . . no storage break-
down.
