the engagement of their daugh-
ter, Marilyn Joy, to Bertram
Shapero, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Shapero of Lowell Drive,
Palmer Woods.
Miss Birnkrant attended the
Chadwick School in California
and recently was graduated
from Stephens College in Co-
lumbia, Mo.
The bridegroom-to-be is a
senior at the University of Vir-
ginia Law School in Charlottes-
ville, Va., where he will grad-
uate in June.
The young couple have set
Dec. 26 for their wedding, to
be held in California.

In connection with the build-
ing of its new synagogue in
Southfield Township, Cong.
Bnai David is calling an organi-
zational meeting of its new
Young Mr. and Mrs. Club at
8:30 p.m., Oct. 22, in the audi-
torium of Northland Center.
According to Bernard Otis,
temporary. chairman of the
group of young married couples,
Rabbi Hayim Donin will be fea-
tured in an "Ask the Rabbi"
program. He will answer infor-
mally all questions on Judaism,
Jewish living, synagogue ritual
and others.
Future plans of the new or-
ganization will be discussed, and
