Einstein Medical School
Gets $500,000 Grant

NEW YORK, (JTA) — The
Albert Einstein. College of Med-
icine of Yeshiva University—
which has just marked the
opening day of its second year
of instruction — has received a
$500,000 grant from the Ford
Foundation.
The college is the only medi-
cal school in the country to re-
ceive a Ford grant although it
is not yet accredited as a teach-
ing institution in the field of
medicine. Accreditation cannot
be granted by the medical pro-
fession until the first class is
graduated,
The first class, which started
studies exactly a year ago, be-
gan its second series of studies
Sept. 17. The College was
among 44 privately supported
medical schools receiving total
grants of $21,750,000 from the
Ford Foundation.
