Plan July Wedding
Detroit Hadassah's '56 Activities

Detroit Hadassah commenced
the year activities, and
launched the annual drive for
000,000 for the advancement of
health in Israel, at an enthusi-
astic meeting at Temple Israel,
Tuesday.
The large audience heard

an inspiring address by Mrs.
Judith Epstein, former national
president of Hadassah and cur-
rently national chairman for
American affairs.
Mrs. Epstein spoke on current
conditions in Israel, whence she
returned recently after attend-
ing tht World Zionist Congress.
She outlined the worldwide im-
plications in the Suez crisis and
described the needs for in-
creased efforts by American
Jews in Israel's defense.
Mrs. Norman Rom, • newly-
elected president of Detroit
Hadassah, presided at the meet-
ing. Reports were submitted on
the initial progress of the cur-
rent fund-raising efforts by
Mrs. Max Lichtig and Mrs.
Alfred P. Rosen. .

Library Series Discusses
`Individual in Society'

"The Individual in Society"
will form the basis for an adult
discussion program of the Sher-
wood Forest Library, 7117 W. 7
Mile. The first of. eight weekly
meetings will begin at 8 p.m.,
Monday.
Books to be considered during
the free course are Ruth Bene-
dict's "Patterns o f Culture,"
David Riesman's "Individualism
Reconsidered" and others by
Will Herberg and Robert Lind-
ner.
Registrations will be accepted
in person or by telephoning UN.
3-8315. Copies of the books to
be discussed will be available at
the library.

Barbara Ann Fruitman,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abra-
ham Fruitrnan, of Flint, Mich-
igan, was united in marriage to
Daniel Sheldon Elman, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Elman,
of Detroit, Aug. 26, at Beth
Israel Synagogue, in Flint. The
double-ring ceremony was per-
formed by Rabbi Phillip Kieval.
The bride's twin sister, Mrs.
Phillip Mittleman, of Trenton,
Michigan, was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were: The bride-
groom's sister, Mrs. Sidney
Wasserman, of Detroit, and Mrs.
Martin Fruitman, of Lancaster,
Pa., Paula Schneider, Adrienne
Schon, Nancy. Davis, and Karen
Wasserman, all of Detroit, were
junior bridesmaids.
Martin Fruitman, the bride's
brother, was best man. Ushers
were Phillip Mittleman, of
Trenton, Sidney Wasserman,
and Allan Tranig, both of De-
troit. Michael Wasserman was
ring bearer.
The bride studied at Wayne
University. Mr: Elman is a
junior in the Wayne University
Cgilege of Medicine. He is a
member of Phi Lamba Kappa
and • Phi Beta Kappa fratern-
ities.
After a wedding trip through
the New England states, the
couple will live at 3210 Richton.
