TEL AVIV, (JTA) - Prof.

Roberto Bachi, director-general
of the government's Central
Statistical Btu- eau, warned the
first national conference of aged
people on problems of the aged
that "the problem of the aged
is becoming ,acute."
The conference, meeting at
the Malben Home in Nathanya,
was attended by two hundred
delegates from all the homes for
the aged in the country, and
welfare and medical experts on
geriatrics.
Sponsored by Malben, the or-
ganization for the care of aged
and ill immigrants, the confer-
ence opened a country-wide ef-
fort to coordinate all efforts on
behalf of the aged.
"Old age has a future, if we
give it a chance," the conference
was told by Dr. Max Wasser,
head of Malben's department
for the aged. Prof. Bachi sug-
gested that one immediate aim
should be to provide useful
work for the aged who, he said,
"should be kept working as long
as possible."
