Anti-Semitic Tract Written by American
OBERAMMERGAU, Germany
(JTA)—A rabidly anti-Semitic
tract, 9,000 copies of which the
Federal- Investigation Agency
confiscated early this month in
this Alpine town, is actually
the German translation of an
American hate publication.
Called "The Bankers' Con-
spiracy of Jekyl Island," the
confiscated German volume was
translated by veteran German
Jew-baiter Guido Roeder and
brought out by his local pub-
lishing house, the "Widar-Ver-
lag." Shortly after the first
World War, Roeder had a hand
in issuing the first German edi-
tion of the "Proctocols of the
Elders of Zion."
To advertise his new publi-
cation, Roeder distributed vast
quantities of printed extracts
illustrated with cartoons show-
ing Bernard Baruch, Henry
Morgenthau, James P. Warburg,
Felix Frankfurter, David Lili-
enthal, Admiral Lewis L.
Strauss and other prominent
American Jews. The book itself
is a German translation of a
volume issued in the United
States two years ago under the
title "The Federal Reserve Con-
spiracy."
Author of this American orig-
inal is Eustace Mullins, a writer
of hate literature who was at
one time employed by the
American Petroleum Institute
Committee in New York and
who sued it earlier this year
for breach of contract. Mullins
is now director of two Nazi-
style bodies, the "A r y an
League" in Virginia and the
"Realpolitical Institute" in Chi-
cago.
The German version of Mul-
Newspaper Survey Shows
Decline in Austrian Bias
VIENNA (JTA)—Anti-Semit-
ism is on the decline, it was
asserted by "Der Neuer Kurier,"
a Vienna newspaper, on the
basis of replies it received to a
questionnaire circulated among
its readers. Eighty percent of
the persons who replied indi-
cated they would welcome more
Christian-Jewish understanding.
The favorable replies came
from both Jews and non-Jews.
Some 20 percent who were op-
posed to closer understanding,
said they did so because they
considered the differences be-
tween the two groups unbridge-
able. The newspaper asserted
that only an insignificant num-
ber of the letters received re-
vealed any anti-Semitic ten-
dencies.
Warsaw Broadcast Says
53% of Jews Employed
LONDON, (JTA)—A picture
of the occupational status of
Jews in Poland was presented in
a Yiddish language broadcast
from Warsaw monitored here.
Quoting from statistics "avail-
able to organs of the Jewish
community in Poland," the
broadcast said that 53 percent
of the Jewish population are
directly engaged in productive
work.
