• remember him as a fine man.... someone it was a privilege to know and respect . . . We had known Abe from the first days of The Jewish News, over 14 years ago when he was advertis- ing manager . . . In those days, Miles and Dave, just kids then, would frequently visit the of- fice in the Penobscot Bldg. and climb upon our lap for a story or two. . Abe went into the advertising business for him- self a few years later, and made a great success of it . . Dave later joined him, and when Abe suffered his first stroke,. Miles left law school also to help .. . We have had the privilege of being associated with them throu.gl our own agency . . . and in mourning Abe's passing . . . His wife Mildred and Abe were like two peas in a pod .. . Both loved music, and beyond that, both loved life . . . and the happiness of being together for the days when they would see their two sons married . . . It almost happened, but the will of God was otherwise. * * * KE.EFE BRASSELLE is in Atlantic City . . . again doing "the Tender Trap" at the sum- mer playhouse there and pack- ing them in strong . . . JERUSALEM, (JTA)—Israel's current oil production of 70 tons a day will be expanded to reach from 180 to 200 tons daily be- fore the end of the year, Dr. Menahem Bader, director-gen- eral of the Ministry of Develop- ment, reported. Six wells in the Heletz area are in production now, but sev- eral others are expected to come Dr. Bader also reported that tests are being conducted for the extraction of oil from bitu- men shale found in large quan- tities in the Dead Sea area-. The process used in the tests, he dis- closed, was that developed by Alexander Zarchin, the engineer whose patents for de-salting sea water are being used in the Soviet Union. Other ekperiments, he said, are being completed now on the use of the bitumen as fuel for generating electric power. The Government is about to make a decision whether to construct a power station using bitumen as fuel instead Of fuel oil.
