HOLLYWOOD - - In the very
near future, American movie
audiences will encounter the
cinematic creations of Veit Har-
lan, whose poisonous "Jud Su-
ess," way back in 1940, helped
to increase the pogrom atmos-
phere of Germany and set the
stage for the mass extermina-
tion of European Jewry.
H a r 1 a n' s motion pictures
were banned by the A.11ied Mili-
tary government immediately
after surrender, but, nonetheless,
the film director managed to
creep back into production.
In the meantime, all of his
Nazi-made pictures, with the
exception of "Jud Suess," have
been re-released.
During my brief stay in Ber-
lin early in 1955 no less than
three of Harlan's picture, "Die

The meeting, chaired by Sir

heard reports indicating that
existing JCA colonies in Israel
are making good progress. The
council approved credits for the

32 Arab Villages G et
Israel Government Loans

JERUSALEM, (JTA) — Loans
totalling 790,000 pounds were
granted to 32 Arab villages in
Israel last year, Agricultural
Minister Kaddish L u z an-
nounced in Parliament. He made
his disclosure in reply to a
question from an Arab deputy.
The loans, allocated from
Israel's 1955-56 development
budget, were to be used for
providing water, planting olive
trees, fruit trees and tobacco.
In addition, Luz said, the gov-
ernment endorsed loans total-
ling 500,000 pounds for indi-
vidual Arab farmers.
The government set up two
mechanized units of tractors
and combines for the use of
Arab villages and supplies in-
structors to teach the Arabs how
to use the equipment.

Dispute Over Wan's Creation
For two and a half years the
school of Shammai disputed re-
ligious questions with the school
of Hillel—one contending that
it would have been better if
man had not been created, the
other claiming it is better that
man has been created than if
he had never been. At the end
of the disputation, they counted
the number of opinions, and it
was found that the majority
concurred that it would have
been better for man not to have
been created; but that since he
had been, it was his duty to
examine his actions and to be
scrupulous concerning them.
