Since 1951, I have been urging the formation of a Bureau of Jewish Education. I have de- voted a chapter to this problem in my work "Jewish Communal Institutions in Detroit." I think that the year 5717 should see the fulfillment of this proposal. Also since 1951, I have been urging the establishment of _a Jewish Historical Society for the purpose of recording and interpreting Jewish life in De- troit. The new year should see the realization. of such a vital organization. I urge that the archives be activated on the pattern of the Jewish Scientific Institute and the Archives of the Hebrew Union College. ALLEN A.
