Hadassah Steps Up
Activities for Annual
Honor Roll Campaign

The Detroit Chapter of .Ha-
dassah will continue . its pro-
gram for Honor Roll with a
luncheon for all general solici-
tation . chairmen • and workers
at 12:30- pan., Wednesday,- at
Hadassah House.
The luncheon is one of many
programs being - held • prior to-
the - official Honor Roll alien-
ing event -on Sept. 11, at Temple
Israel. The drive will culminate
Nov. 10 with - a celebration at
the new Ford auditorium.
At a recent briefing meeting
conducted by Mrs. Julian TO-
% bias, who. is in charge of that
important phase of the cam-
paign', an outline was presented
on Igrael's changing medical
needs and Hadassah's part in
that program.
. Mrs. Tobias outlined a 10-
point program of specialized aid
by Hadassah, which includes
the following:
Increased support to the
Hadassah - Hebrew University
Medical School; enlargement of
the Hadassah-Yassky Memorial
Hospital in Beersheba; accelera-
tion of plans for construction
of a $12,500,000 Hadassah-
' Hebrew U. medical center in
Jerus ale m; intensification of
Hadassah's medical fellowship
programs.
Other streamlined health
efforts include building of un-
derground operating theaters in
hospitals; stepping up the
Youth Aliyah program to rescue
500 children which Morocco has
agreed to release; building of
its vocational educational pro-
gram; establishment of a „com-
munity health station; and aid-
ing, with the Jewish National
Fund, • the upbuilding of the
Lachish development.
Mrs. Carl Schiller, special
gifts chairman, announces that
Mrs. Herman August has re-
placed Mrs. Frank Wetsman as
a special gifts. vice-chairman.
Mrs. Benjamin Bond, chairman
of treasury , gifts, advises that
organizations, family and social
clubs may make contributions
to - Honor Roll.

wedding Aug. 14, at Temple Israel, when Valerie Solomon was
united in marriage to Mel Price and Sheila Price spoke • her vows
to Phillip Gordon Solomon.
The Ceremony was performed by Dr. Leon Fram and Rabbi
Morris Adler. Parents of the couples are Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Behr Solomon, of Fairfield Ave., and,. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Price,
of Coral Gables, Fla.
The young couples were attended only by, best men for the
bridegrooms, Kenneth- Schimm, of Miami, serving Mr. Price, and
Martin Berstein standing up for Mr. Solomon,
Miss Solomon chose a gown of chantilly lace over white
taketa. Her cap of matching lace was trimmed with seed pearls
and held in place a shoulder-length veil of white illusion.
Miss Price's gown was Brussels lace over silk taffeta, with

Both brides carried white Bibles and white orchids.
A wedding dinner for. the couples followed the ceremony at

phony season, Oct. 30.
The first concert will- feature
Anthony _Marlowe, formerly
leading tenor of the Metropoli-
tan Opera Company. The or-
chestra will be directed by its
regular conductor, Julius Chaj es.

pear as piano soloist, with guest
conductor Henri Nosco.
A "pop" concert, Feb. 17, hon-
oring Annual Jewish Music Fes-
