Rabbi Adler to Address
Brandeis Camp Institute
Rabbi Adler I. T. Holtzman
Rabbi Morris - Adler left on
Tuesday for Santa Susana,
Calif., to attend the Brandeis
Camp Institute. He will be the
principal speaker at, the "Week-
End of Living Judaism," at
which Julius Fligelman will be
the chairman. Among the 100
national leaders expected to
participate in the Institute will
be Irwin T. Holtzman, of De-
troit, who will attend the ses-
sions there from July 26 to 29.
The week-end Institute is de-
signed to help participants re-
discover the cultural and spir-
itual values of the heritage in
following the credo, "To be
good Americans, we must be
better Jews," first voiced by
the late Supreme Court Justice
Louis D. Brandeis who founded
the camp program 15 years ago
with Dr. Shlomo Bardin, its ex-
ecutive director.

High Holiday Reservations
Announcement was made this
week by Beth • Abraham Syna-
gogue that a limited number of
reservations for worship on the
High Holidays are available at
the synagogue office, W 7 Mile
and Greenlawn.
The services will be conduct-
ed by Rabbi Israel I. Halpern,
assisted by Cantor Shabtai Ack-
erman and a choir trained by
Dan Frohman.

by Yeshivath Beth Yehudah,
it was announced at a recent
meeting of the Yeshivah board
of dirctors.
Rabbi Joseph Elias, Yeshivah
principal, in making the an-
nouncement, pointed out the
"grave shortage" of trained
_educational personnel. He said
the institute will draw on the
Yeshivah faculty and others to
provide practical experience
through classes, extra-curricu-
lar activities and the day camp
programs of the Yeshivah.
Open Synagogue at Woodhull Lake
A new synagogue has opened
in Michigan, although it will
function for only the summer
months.
The synagogue is called Cong.
Woodhull Lake Beth Itzhak, and
it is directed by Isidore Sosnick,
president; Mor-
ris W. Zack,
vice-president;
and Simon M.
Kleinplatz, sec-

year dream on the part of many
residents who had hoped for
the emergence of such a con-
gregation.
As far as is known, creation
of the Synagogue marks the
first time that a duly-authorized
congregation has been formed
at a Michigan resort.
Services will continue
throughout the summer under
the direction of Messrs. Sosnick,
Zack and Kleinplatz, with Fri-
day services beginning at 7:30
p.m. and Saturday services held
at 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
An oneg shabbat is conducted
for the youth of the Woodhull
Lake community by Mrs. Sam-
uel Bicoll at 6 p.m., each Fri-
day, when Hebrew and religious
songs are sung.
Cantor- Rubin Boyarsky will
officiate at sabbath services of
Cong. Shaarey Zedek this week-
end for the second consecutive
week. He is serving as guest
cantor in the absence of Cantor
Jacob H. Sonenklar, now on a
visit in Israel.
The institute program will .
closely follow that of teachers
training courses cinducted by
Torah ,Umsorah in New York,
Rabbi Elias said.
