WASHINGTON, (JTA) -- It was pre-
dicted this week that a majority of the
Senate,- would support a resolution aimed
at ending the acquiescenc of :the United
States Government in the discrimination
of the Arab governments agairit American
citizens of the Jewish faith. The bipar-
tisan. resolution; introduced by Senators
Herbert H. Lehman,' Paul Douglas and
William Langer, had already added as
sponsors' 15 more Senators.

among the last families at Camp -Foehrenwald, only Jew-
, ish DP , camp remaining in Germany, were assisted in
their immigration to the U. S. by United Hias Service,
the Jewish international migration agency. After 15
years of life in camps, the Szlacks were permanently
reunited, by Hias, with their entire family, including
three other sons, a daughter., and three grandchildren.
Jewish organizations continued to laud the
resolution and its purposes. It was hailed
not only for its effect on American Jev,fs but
as a measure . which would add to' the dignity
and effectiveness of the United States in its
relations with other • governinents throughout

ish Committee,. Jewish Congress, Bnai -Brith
and National CoMmunity Relations Advisory
Council. • -
Both the. Detroit and Flint Jewish Com-
munity Councils took a stand in support of
the resOlUtion and urged Michigan's Senators
Potter aid McNamara to co-sponsor it.
In a comniunication to Samuel Rhodes,
president of Detroit'S Jewish Community Coun 7
ell, Senator Pat McNamara condemned the
discrimination pfacticed by Arabs and said
he Wholeheartedly endorses the resolution in-
troduced in the U. S. Senate.

NEW YORK, (JTA): — The atten-
tion of leaders of the Communist Party
in Poland has been drawn to the - grow-
ing anti-Jewish sentiment in the coun - ,
try and to the "poison of anti-Semitism"
which is being spread openly at public
gatherings, it is reported in the Warsaw
Jewish newspaper "Folkshtimme"
The report says that representatives
of regional committees of the Corn-
munist Party have been invited to at-
tend meetings of • Jewish workers at
which the problem of growing anti-
Semitism was diScussed. ‘`The Jewish
workers have - openly and - clearly re-
ported to these representatives the true
situation," the report says, adding that
the meetings served the needed purpose
and resulted in decisions by the regional
committees to take "educational meas-
ures" to counteract anti-Semitic propa-
ganda. - -
The Warsaw Jewish newspaper
emphasizei that growing anti-Jewish
sentiment in the country has provoked
restlessness" among Jews in the coun-
try. "Certain Jewish working elements
--including members as well as non-

Committee (RIAL), and Synagogue Council of America,

tive, Reform rabbinic and, congregational bodies of U.S.

Wins Prize . With High Notes
For excellence in oantorial studies, Can-
- tor Harold Dworkin (left), of Detroit, son
of - Mr. and Mrs. Abe Dworkin, 3201 W.
Grand, receives the Finkel Memorial Prize
from Cantor Wolf. Hecker, executive director
of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute'
of Religion School of Sacred Music in New
York. Dworkin was graduated with honors
in June from the school, a training center for•
synagogue cantors. He has jiist been named
Cantor _ of Washington Boulevard Temple,
Chicago. The prize honors Lawrence J. Finkel,
gifted Singer and patron of the arts, who
served as volunteer cantor of Temple Beth El,
Riverside, Calif., for 10 years before his death .
