a character ever existed is a
matter of controversy. Be it as
it may, the description of the
symptomatalogy—merely a few
lines—suffice - to shariVy indi-
cate the nature of the disease
in a modern light. I quote them
as follows:
Henry Faigin was re-elected
to serve a second term as presi-
dent of Branch Seven, Labor
Zionist Organization of Amer-
ica, at the group's recent elec-
tion meeting.
Elected with Faigin were Mrs.
Louis Slabosky and Mrs. Sam
Kovin, vice-presidents; Mrs. Sol
Glosser, .Louis Rosen and Mrs.
Irving Greenberg, secretaries;
Bernard Rollins, treasurer; and
Mrs. Thin Tanis, publicity.

(1) Hansen's Disease or Lep-

and precipitiously; hence we
can rule it out.

(3) Scabies and ordinary epi-
dermophytic invasions that are
mentioned in the Scriptures un-
der the caption of "Sh'hin and
Noraath," are of slow develop-
ment; the latter is not always
accompanied by severe itcuing
(Pruritus), as we gather from
the morbid picture in the above
quotation.

We must therefore think of
the likelihood of a dermatosis
that attacks the habitants of
the Orient and also occasion-
ally of the temperate zones,
viz. Mycosis Fungoides. Its
onset is fulminant. There is
first a premycotic eczema-
tous stage, with intense itch-
ing which is not relieved by
any drug administered inter-
nally or by local anti-pruritic
agents, except in keeping the
efflorescence unmacerated and
dry _by drying powders, which
-would emphasize the latter
part of the quotation "and he
sat among the ashes." This
- premycotie prodrama is rap-
idly followed by the appear-
ance of tumor-like excres-
cences, that have the resem-
blance of a cut tomato. -
