AJ Congress Requests NEA to Cancel Tours to Lands Barring Jews

NEW YORK; (JTA) — The
American Jewish Congress has
called on the National Educa-
tion Association to cancel four

Over- '70 branches of the
Young Israel Synagogue move-
ment of the United States,
Canada, Israel and the Nether-
lands will hold a National con-
vention from today through
Monday at the Hotel Furts,
Fallsburg, N.Y.
Rabbis Samuel Prero and
Yaakov I. Homnick of Detroit,
will participate in the conven-
tion's special session on "The
Changing Face of the Jewish
Community" and "Suburbia."
Max and Phillip Stollman, also
of Detroit, will be honored at
the convention.
In the Detroit delegation, in-
cluding those named above, will
be Mr. and Mrs. Max Nusbaum,
of the Young Israel Center of
Oak. Woods.
The Young Israel movement
was founded in 1912 to create
a healthy synthesis between
traditional Judaism and the
American way of life. Through
non-commercial services and
youth clubs, the young mem-
bers are educated to participate
actively in Jewish communal
affairs.
